Wexford Women’s Refuge is a purpose-built emergency accommodation facility offering a 24hour service to women and children experiencing Domestic Violence. We provide short term crisis accommodation and a safe and supportive space for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
- 1 in 4 women in Ireland who have been in a relationship have been abused by a current or former partner.
- National Research by the National Crime Council found that 1 in 7 women have experienced severe abusive behaviour of a physical, sexual or emotional nature from a partner at some times in their lives.
- In 2018, 9,971 women and 2,572 children were accommodated and/or received support from a domestic violence service. (Safe Ireland National Domestic Violence Statistics 2018)
- Since 1996, 230 women have died violently in the Republic of Ireland. 61% were killed in their own homes. (Women’s Aid Femicide Watch November 2019)
